Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GC160 OHC Timing?, honda gc160, power washer

Question
John,
I have a Power washer that I cannot get to start. From what knowledge I and some buddies have we have figured it to be out of time. The engine is a Honda 5.0HP OHC. The numbers on the side are as follows GCAHA-1732932 followed by a DHAF   It also states that it is 160cm3. What I am asking is how do I time this thing. Reading through some web pages I have found out that it does have an internal timing belt and that is about it. Why do we figure it is out of time? 1. it will not start. 2. Have done the fuel directly into the cylinder, nothing but a flame shot out of the air cleaner hole. Reasoning tells me that if it is coming out of the air intake then the intake vale must still be open when it is sparking. That would lead me to either bad valves / valve gaps or out of time. I have not checked the gaps as of yet, I am leaning toward it being out of time, and dont want to mess with the gaps until I have to. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
 Hello David:

You are Correct in thinking the Valves May be Out of Time. However, On these Small Engines, the Firing of the Plug is Timed by the Flywheel Key. Remove the Flywheel and Inspect the Key. Any Damage to this Key will Cause the Problem you Described and is the Most Common Cause. If the Key is Good, then Follow Up to me and I will Try to Locate the Timing Belt Instructions for you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
