Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Green Machine hedge trimmer fuel starvation, fuji robin, venturi tube

Question
Thanks John, got the rebuild kit locally, put it together (my old parts looked as good as the new ones but for $8 it was worth it) and still won't start.  Now when I spray ether or gas mix in the carb I get almost no fire at all.  Although with the plug out and grounded I get a big fat spark. I also checked the pulse port from the crankcase for blockage and found none.  It feels like its got good compression.  I'm stumped?

Hi John  No soap on the exahust blocking you suggested- still won't start. M/N: EC022G-8Z-207576 from FUJI Robin Ind. If you can locate an ICB for the carb I can continue with your troublshooting suggestions.

Thanks for your expert advice here.

-----Question-----
Hi John.  This thing is not 1 year old. I have good spark,  good fuel and have disassembled the tiny carb twice cleaned every passege with small wires compressed air and carb cleaner. This has a small venturi tube and jet.  Both are clean.  When using ether and sqirts of fuel mix from the tank it starts but the carb will not draw fuel to keep it running.  The primer bulb fills nicely with 3 pushes.  What gives here?

 Hello Steve:

Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port for Blockage and Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen for Blockage. Exhaust Blockage will Cause this Problem. Most Trimmers use a Pulse Pump in the Carburetor. If the Needle isn't Working Properly, then it Can't Draw the Fuel. The Fork for the Needle is Set so the Diaphragm Just Rests on the Fork when the Carburetor is Reassembled. Send me the Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Hello Steve:

I Require the OEM of the Carburetor, Please. Is it a Zama, Walbro, ect.  The Site Doesnt Offer the Breakdown/IPL, However I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL for the Carburetor if I have the OEM. Thanks.

 Hello Steve:

Go to this Addy http://walbro.com/ and Select Service and Aftermarket. Then Select Aftermarket Parts and Service. Then in the Upper Right Select Browse by Walbro Number. The Walbro Numbers Usually Start with a Prefix Such as WA, WB, CCA, ect and then Numbers. Select the Series Carburetor(WA, WB, CCA, Ect). Then Select the Carburetor to View in Breakdown/IPL Form. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Steve:

Is the Spark Plug Wet after trying to Start the Engine? Check the Compression. On these Trimmers, the Carburetor and Exhaust are the Usual Causes for the Problem you are Having. Wires Don't Clean the Passages Inside the Carburetor. An Overnight Soak is Usually Required to Properly Clean the Passages and Jets. If the Compression is Below 70psi, then that is the Problem. The Rings May have Stuck to the Piston and Don't Flex with the Cylinder which causes a Loss of Compression. It is Rare for this to Happen on Equipment this New, But it Does Happen. If the Compression is Good, then Check the Flywheel Key for Damage and Replace if Required. Other than what I have Listed here and in the Other E-Mail; there is Nothing Else to Check. If you have Compression Fuel and Fire at the Proper Time, the Trimmer should Run. The Flywheel Key Times the Plug to Fire at the Proper Time. Hope this Helps.
