Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Popping exhaust, cylinder remaining cool JD 18 HP (briggs stratton), briggs stratton, hp briggs

Question
It is a 2002 engine with 127 hours.
Switched spark plugs they seem to look the same condition, same cyl still is popping. Tractor has been setting for long period of time, the gas had turn to shellac, removed, cleaned carb of shellac as well as gas tank and fuel pump. Changed oiled and filter.
Thinking about running some two cycle oil to see if it would free valve if it is a valve.

Do you think it a valve? If so do you know any trick to free the valve without pulling the head?

Greatly appreciated.

Answer
 Hello Gene:

Add a Small Amount of Marvel Mystery Oil to the Gas. If the Valve is Sticking, this will Free the Valve Better than 2-cycle Oil.  If it Doesn't Help, then Check the Valve Lash on the Exhaust Valve. If the Valve Lash is Good, then the Valve May be Bent or Require Reseating. Check the Compression on the Cylinder that is Popping. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let meknow what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
