Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda 5.5hp gx160, gas mixture, gunk


Question
i have a fan powered by this honda 5.5hp.  It starts up great and runs fine on the choke, but when i switch the choke off it stalls.  i just rebuilt the carb after it wouldnt start with stail fuel. What do i need to do to fix this problem.  it a fire dept fan

 Did you Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Gunk Carburetor Cleaner? Did you Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air? Have you Opened the High RPM Air/Gas Mixture Screw 1/4 Turn? From your Description it Sounds like the Passage to the Main Jet is Restricted with Varnish that Gas Forms over Time. Soaking Overnight is the Only Way to Remove this Varnish. Hope this Helps.
