Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower wont start, mtd yard machines, briggs and stratton

Question
I have a MTD (Yard Machines) Riding Mower. It is model number 13A608G062 with a B&S 17.5 OHV engine model number 313707 (type 0162-E5).  I can not get this mower to start. It turns over, but won't start. I discovered the gas line was cracked (the mower was unused for 2-3 years).  I replaced the fuel line and filter.  I have also replaced the spark plug.  If I put a little gas in the carburetor, it fires and will run until the gas in the carburetor is gone, then it dies.  Any idea why the gas isn't getting from the tank to the carburetor? And how do I fix this?

Answer
 Hello Paul:

Remove the Gas Inlet Line from the Carburator and Check for Gas to the Carburator. If the Gas is Free Flowing to this Inlet, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburator Overnight in Gunk Carburator Cleaner. Spraying the Carburator WILL NOT WORK. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine and Carburator at this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click on the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Dont have Part Numbers. Then Select File Number 31. Then Select Folder # 313700. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
