Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere 180 Gear Shift, sectional index, lawn tractors

Question
The gear shift lever lost tension and I am unable to change gears. I can see a bar hanging from the rod that is attached to the lever. It swivels on the end of the rod. I cannot find where this bar was attached. Can you tell me where it was attached and if I can re-attached it myself or if it is a major repair issue?  Thanks.

 Go to this Addy http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers 180. Then Select 2056 - 170, 175, 180 and 185 Lawn Tractors. Then Select Sectional Index. Then Select 50 - Power Train (175, 180). Then Select 10 - Shift Lever and Linkage. You can see where the Linkage Hooks Up from this Diagram. Hope this Helps.
