Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding Mower not moving, craftsman model, first hope

Question
Hi John.  I have a Craftsman (Model 536.270112) rear engine rider and it quit moving while I was cutting the grass.  I noticed that a belt was broken so I ordered the belt (part number 37x65, motion drive belt) and put it on.  However, my lawn mower is still not moving.  The belt isn't tight around the three pullies so there must be another problem but I can't see what it is.  What do you suppose is keeping my rider from moving?

I appreciate your help!  Lissa

Answer
 Hello Lissa:

You can View a Breakdown of this Mower at this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Click in the Lawn Equipment Box. Then Enter the Model Number. Then Verify the Equipment. Then Select the View Diagram of the Motion Drive and Click Continue. A New Window will Open with a Breakdown of the Motion Drive. Is the Spring (#61) Still Attached? If Yes, then Remove the Deck and Have Someone Operate the Clutch/Brake while you Watch the Movement of the Linkage. Start at the Pedal and Work Towards the Transaxle. There is a Binding in the Linkage. Check the Parking Brake Linkage First. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
