Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper rear riding mower, snapper, hesitation

Question
John,

I recently purchased a used snapper rear riding mower with a 42 inch cut (approximately 5 to 6 years old).  I am encountering problems with the cutting mechanism.  After starting the machine, sometimes the blades won't engage when you place them into the on postion.  Also, I am having a problem while the blades are engaged.  The mower will be cutting and all of a sudden stop cutting (skipping spots) and then begin cutting again.  Any suggestions in what could be the problem.

Thanks

Answer
 Hello Mark:

The Cause of your Problem May Be the Blade Belt Needs Replacing. Belts will Stretch. This is the Reason for the Hesitation when Engaging the Blades and the Intermediate Stopping and Starting of Cutting. Not all Belts that are Slipping will Make a Noise. Are the Blades Tight? Are the Pulleys Tight on the Shafts of the Cutter Deck? Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
