Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Scotts Lawn Tractor With Kohler Engine, scotts lawn tractor, gas tank

Question
I have a Scotts lawn tractor with a Kohler Engine (Model# CV16S, Spec# 43526).  It starts and runs fine but after 10-15 minutes the engine dies and won't restart until cool.  I took apart the carb - it looked ok so I just put it back together.  I replaced the coil based on someones suggestion - but that didn't help.  What else could it be?

What would be involved in replacing this engine with a Kohler Courage 20 hp replacement?

Answer
 Hello Chris:

Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure it is Venting the Tank Properly. Check the Valve Lash. Check this Engine for an Igniter. Does the Engine Quit like the Key has Been Turned Off or Like it is Starving for Gas? As for Replacing the Engine. Check the Diameter and Length of the Crankshaft. Check the Mounting Holes. If these Match you should have No Problem Switching the Engines. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
