Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weedeater repair, vacuum leaks, carburator

Question
I have a 2 cycle Homelite weedeater with the following symptom: Will not rev, starts and idles fine. I have: cleaned gas tank, checked plug(not replaced),removed carb and cleaned all orifices w/ carb cleaner spray(did not soak ),removed fuel filter as being possibly clogged although not visibly so,muffler not obstructed w/ carbon. There are no vacuum leaks, carb diaphragm appears Ok, no visible pinholes. It still runs the same, does not smoke. What should I try next?

Answer
 Hello Rick:

Did you Run the Trimmer with the Muffler Off? You May still have Varnish Inside the Passages of the Carburator. I Always Suggest Soaking a Carburator when Cleaning it. The Varnish can Only be Properly Removed by Soaking the Carburator for at Least 4 Hours Min. When the Muffler was Off, did you Look for Deep Scratches or Gouges in the Jug(cylinder)? I have seen Trimmers Start and Idle but have no Rev or Power and the Cylinders had a Gouge in them that Prevented it from Reving. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
