Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD riding mower no spark, kawasaki engine, car quest

Question
I was mowing with my JD GT262 mower when it just died and would not start.  This has a 17 hp
Kawasaki engine.  Fuel system is ok, I have absolutely no spark.  I got a wiring diagram and
checked all safety switches, the only thing that I can see could have gone bad is a circuit
board that has an ignition relay on it, the ignition module (ignitor I heard it called) or the
coil.  Is there any way to test any of these components?  There is a single white wire going
from the circuit board into the ignition module and then up to the coil, I do not get any power
on this wire ever, should I get voltage on this wire when the engine is cranking?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Bob

Answer
 Hello Bob:

On these Engines the Most Common Problem is the Ignitor, Not the Coil. I would Replace the Ignitor. The Coil can be Tested. The Local NAPA and Car Quest here can do the Test. Check your Local Automotive Supply Store and They can Usually Direct you to a Shop that has the Coil Testing Equipment. Some of the Larger Small Engine Shops Also have the Coil Testing Equipment. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
