Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler carb, engine cranks, starter fluid

Question
I inherited a 10 year old YardMan tractor w/Kohler CV15 engine.  It's in very good shape, but before I go to run it I drained the fuel tank, replaced the fuel filter, changed the oil, needed new battery.  It would only run while starting fluid was being sprayed into the air cleaner.  I took apart the carb, cleaned it, put in a carb kit.  I am getting fuel at the end of the line that goes into the carb.  Engine cranks, but will still only run while starting fluid is being shot into the air cleaner.  Need more cleaning or is carb done?  Thank you!

Answer
 Hello Cal:

The Carburator May Require Soaking Overnight in Carburator Cleaner. Be sure to Blow Out all Ports and Passages with Compressed Air. If you can Keep the Engine Running with Starter Fluid, then the Carburator is the Problem. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck
