Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): few yr old Yard machine 22 cut push mower 5.75hp Briggs..., push mower, carburator

Question
Hi,

I got a mower from my brother and it wouldn't start. He said something about the gasket behind the air filter on the carb/primer bulb was not sucking fuel. Just to make sure, I did investigate and the gasket is new, but I'm not getting any fuel flowing from the primer bulb. It doesn't seem to making any vacuum to suck the fuel in. What should I be looking for in order for it to work properly? The gasket seems to be intact in the right spots, but maybe not. I'm not sure what it is actually supposed to look like, not having serviced it before. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Mike:

Depending on How Long this Mower has been Sitting; you May want to Clean and Overhaul the Carburator. It Sounds like the Primer Bulb may have a Crack or Pin Hole in it. Change the Bulb. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
