Nissan Repair: ECU P505 for 2000 Maxima, motor mounts, p505

Question
Von,

I'm getting the dreaded P505 code on my 2000 maxima. The code is for IACV valve but I have also read where the motor mounts can burn the transistor that controls both IACV and motor mounts. I did unplug the motor mounts and thoroughly cleaned the IACV and ran the re-learning procedure for the IACV which didn't work and the code keeps coming back.

I have not pulled the ECM to see if it's burnt but I suspect it's. If I find the ecu is fried and wanted to buy a used replacement can I buy a used one that would not have be be flashed by Nissan? If this is possible what do I need to do to ensure that the used ECU I buy will work in my 2000 maxima, automatic with no traction control.

Also do you have any other recommendations on how to fix this issue?

Thanks for your help as you have always been a great help in the past

Answer
Scott,

I would replace the IACV before even looking at an ECM.  Also, if the motor mount is leaking I would replace that too.  I have replaced both on my 2000 Maxima SE and did not have any problem with the ECM.  Now, you can get a used ECM for your vehicle and it should just plug in.  Get one from a 2000 to be sure.  You are correct, as long as it does not have traction control you will be fine.  But, that, changing the ECM, is a last resort.
