Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda GX620 24hp v-twin motor, throttle linkage, gas welder

Question
This was put into  our golf cart,it has a lot of power but the speed is slower than the old motor.we played with the governor shaft that controls the carb. The thing took off like a bat out of hell, you start it it idles but when you step on it the throttle sticks open(governor shaft holds it)Also before we did touch it you would step on the gas it would go but then it was like a gas welder backing off when the lode was gone making for a jerky ride, can you help me?

Answer
 Hello Kelly:

Yes I think I can Help. 1- The Governor is set the wrong way. Turn the Governor Shaft Counter Clockwise and Hold the Throttle Linkage on the Carb Closed to Idle. Lock the Throttle Arm Down in this Position. If it Runs Wide open then Reverse the Procedure Above and the Governor will be Right. Now to get more Speed from the Engine. Shorten the Spring from the Governor Control Arm and the Throttle Control Arm. The Spring that Pulls the Governor Arm when you push the Throttle Cable. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
