Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): How to install a connecting rod 5hp B&S, roto tiller, oil hole

Question
I Inherited a 5hp B&S roto tiller with thrown rod. I have a new rod with an oil hole drilled on the shoulder and an oil slinger to bolt on the bottom. Does the oil hole face to the front or rear of the engine and does the straight edge of the slinger face front or rear? Thanks, Dick

 Hello Richard:

 The Oil Hole goes towards the Cam. The Slinger Points away from the The Connecting Rod. Like a Small Finger Pointing out from the Connecting Rod. Mount it so as to Pick up Oil when the Engine Turns. Hope this Helps.
