Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Crafstman 5.5 wont stay running, hiya tom, briggs stratton

Hello,
I was cutting my lawn and after the lawnmower was hot it died. I primed it again and it would not stay running. Ran for about 3 seconds. I repeated this several times until I gave up, with same results each time. I just went and tried to start it again (cold) and received the same resluts. Im thinking float, what do you think? By the way, my lawn mower is 7 years old but looks like new. I have changed the oil every season and tuned it up regularly.

Could be a float, if its stuck, and the needle's lettin in just a trickle of fuel.  Otherwise, if a float goes bad it gets full of fuel, hangs low, the bowl overfills and the mower floods.

More than likely you need a new fuel pump membrane. Do you have a manual?  If not, give me the emgine model number and I'll get some info and cross the number to a briggs & stratton number that you can order parts from.
