Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S mower wont keep running, briggs and stratton, squirt bottle

Question
I have a Huskee Briggs and Stratton 16.5 hp mower that will run for awhile (20-30 minutes), then it quits and will not restart. I have checked the fuel, oil, fuel & air filters all seems in order. Any help would be appreciated, it's becoming very frustrating as I have a very large lawn to mow.

Answer
Hiya Paula-
Lets start with the basics
a- Gas cap (replace it they're cheap).  If they clog they don't vent, the tank develops a vacuum and gas stops flowing.

If that dosen't help- we'll need to determine if its a fuel or ignition issue.  Put some gas in some type small squirt bottle.  Remove the air cleaner, run the engine until it begins to quit, squirt some gas into the carburator throat, if the engine picks back up- we have a fuel issue, if it still dies without even trying to run, its an ignition issue (have you changed you spark plug this season?)

Do these checks and lemme know ok?
