Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Shorts out even when key is turned off, zero ohms, cub cadet 1320

Question
Cub Cadet 1320 tractor, was mowing and the engine stopped as if I had turned it off.  I found that the fuse under the seat had blown.  Replaced the fuse, but it blew just putting it in, even with key turned off.
I don't know how to interpret the meter results.  How do I test to isolate where the short is?

Answer
Often the most difficult problem to fix.

If you take an ohm meter and test on each side of the fuse hold you should see a short, or  zero ohms on one side.  This indicates the circuit is shorted to ground.

Many times the problem can be found by following the wires from the fuse to the other ends of the wire harness.  A bare, rubbed spot on a wire of the wire harness may point to the short.

You can also determine with side of the fuse the short is on and then begin disconnecting the wire harness from each connector until the short disappears.  This can narrow your search area quite quickly.

Let me know if this helps.
