John,
Is there a way to adjust the brakes on my lawn tractor? I looked in the owners manual but cant seem to find an answer. Thanks for your help.

 Hello Tom:

Yes the Brakes can be Adjusted. You will Need Help though. There is an Adjustment on the Linkeage and On the Transaxle. You will need to Determine Which Needs Adjusting. Start with the Linkeage Adjustment. Shorten Linkeage Until the Brakes Stop the Tractor. Make Sure there is NO DRAG on the Tractor after making this Adjustment.  Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

Answer
 Hello Tom:

Yes the Cutter Deck will have to be Removed to make these Adjustments. It will be a Try This Setting and see if it is better.  Then try again until u get the Desired Results. This is due to Wear and Tear on the Linkeage. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck
