Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan oiling system, vacuum shop, foolish mistake

Question
Hello Michael. First off, my appreciation and gratitiude to anyone who has worked in the Tool & Die industry. It is an exacting, taxing and changing world.
My situation. I have an older Poulan 2000 Woodsman saw. Good enough for my needs. Recently the oiler stopped functioning. Upon inspection, the tubing proved to be clogged with wood chips, old oil, residue and just gunk! I tried using a vacuum-shop type-to extract the stuff. No luck. I then washed the reservoir with mineral spirits and applied pressure, to attempt a flush from the inside. No luck. I used a brazing rod as a plunger......well it plunged the plastic tube directly into the reservoir. I have the tube out. To what does it connect in the reservoir? Is there any reasonable manner to reconnect this besides splitting the case? I hope! At your lesiure, please answer. And publish so others don't make the same FOOLISH mistake.

Answer
Hi T.O.,

Sorry, I'm not familiar with your model and have not worked on one.  I would assume that the tube connects to a grommet that seals it against the tank hole.  Try to look in the filler hole using a flashlight or small bulb on wires.

Good luck,
Michael

Yes, Tool & Die was a great experience as to how things work and are made.
