Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): ignition, starter solenoid, yard karts

Question
trying to replace an ignition switch on a go cart three prong terminal 2black wires 1 red wire i traced i black to ground on back of switch "sol"  "ign"  "bat" which wire goes where?

Answer
Hiya Randy
Man I luv Go-karts
The term marked Bat goes exactly there- battery positive terminal (actually- it propably hooks to the starter's solenoid, the post where the BIG red cable bolts to-this is directly from the battery)
The term marked Sol goes to the little positive terminal on the starter solenoid, this actually engages the starter drive when you turn the key to start.
The term marked ign is a kill signal to the ignition.  It basically 'grounds' the ignition circuit when you turn the switch off.

hope this helps!  ( We just finished racing 4 yard karts I built for my girls- they have thier own track on 5 acres!  Man are we dirty!)
