Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Noma snowblower, tecumseh engine, good shape

Hi, I'm looking into buying a used snowblower. It is a Noma 8hp with a tecumseh engine. Is Noma a good brand.  Thanks.

Noma makes a decent home ower blower.  

A few things to check; on the bottom of the blower there are some skids and knife edge, make sure they aren't wore out or bent.

If the unit is a self-propel model, put the blower in the highest gear and see if it pulls strong.

Also, check the auger and make sure it isn't bent and all chipped up.

If these parts are in good shape then the blower either hasn't been used a lot or the owner has taken good care of it.
