Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower wiring, orange wire, keyswitch

Question
I have a yardman riding mower. Last year my starter went out and I took it off and the solenoid also. I just finally got the parts to fix it and I cant remember which wire goes were. I have a small red which I assume goes to the solenoid, a yellow which has the female end for the front of the solenoid, and a orange wire which is the one stumping me. Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Mike,

The solenoid needs the two large wires that come from the battery and go to the starter.  Also a small wire that comes from the keyswitch, which activates the solenoid.  Another wire may connect to the battery-to-solenoid terminal or a 4th terminal, if present.  Use a test light to see what wires have power and where they come from or go to.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
