Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas in oil, honda engine, excess fuel

Question
I have a Honda engine on a pump. Apparently there is gas in the oil. How could this had happened and what measures do I take in order for it not to happen again. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

Answer
Hi Gez,

If the carb's float leaks, the excess fuel may get into the crankcase.  If there is a fuel shut off valve, try closing that and see if it helps.  if so, you will need to remove the float bowl and check for debris in the needle valve or just replace the needle and seat.

Let me know how you make out.
