Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas trimmer wont run, homelite weedeater, straight shaft

Question
My homelite weedeater will run strong for about 4 to 6 sec then die. You can pull the cord again and the same thing then nothing for an hour or so. I have changed the spark plug and cleaned the entire thing. I have been using it for about a year and a half and   it worked great last week when I used it no warning just wont start now.Not sure of the exact model but I know it is not a straight shaft and it was one of the least expensive ones. thanks

Answer
Was there oil/dirt on the rear of the trimmer engine?

Many of the cheaper units have an o-ring on the rear of the engine that leak.  You can remove the rear engine cover and use some permatex or silcone to seal the engine case.  If this does not then the carb may need some work.

Let me know if the o-ring sealer works.
