Hello, I got a 100cc ATV it ran good when I got it I was riding it I just cleaned the carb and now it was running great well like I said I was ridding it and the plug that goes over the spark plug fell off and it stopped I put it and I looked at the carb and gas was just running out of the bowl. I took the carb apart and it stop but as soon as I went to kick start it gas started running out again and it didnt start I replaced the plug that goes over the spark plug so it wouldnt fall off again and it didnt work so I replaced the sparkplug and it still wont start and the carb is still running gas out the bowl like crazy how can I fix the carb and get the thing to start!! I dont know the model # or the maker its a 2004 I got it for chrismas brand new but it was a generick kind it isnt a name brand it red and says ATV SPORT on the fram above the front tires.

Hi Stephen,

The leaking carb may be due to the float's needle and seat.  There may be a piece of dirt stuck in there.  You will need to remove the float bowl and take a look.

If you are not getting spark at the plug and the kill switch is working okay, then you may have a bad ignition coil.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael

I changed ignition coil still not starting.

Hi Stephen,

Do you have spark at the plug? If not, check the kill switches and see if you have power to the coil.  How was the carb's float?

Michael

I got spark and I turn all gas off and squarted gas into the carb to see if it may not be getting gas and to see if it was the carb nothing happend it must be the spark plug im thinking but I changed it and the ignition coil I am stumped!

Answer
Hi Stephen,

Sorry for my delay.  It was a busy holiday here.

If you have spark at the plug's electrode you should be okay as far as spark goes.  If you squirt fuel into the carb it should fire up.  If not, the only thing left is compression or the reed between the carb and block (If it is a 2 stroke.)

I am swamped with questions and can't give follow up answers until next week.  Sorry.

Good Luck,
Michael
