Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): chipper/shredder, chipper shredder, wd 40

Question
I bought a used chipper. MTD brand.  I can get engine to run by
spraying fuel into carb.  But won't run on its own after that.  I
have put new gas in it and sprayed carb cleaner.  I could not
remove gas tank because exhaust won't come off(rusted and
won't budge even with WD-40).  What to do?

Answer
Hi Tom,

The carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside.  You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.  Probe each and every hole with a small wire.   A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
