Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower dies after it is started, briggs and stratton, c gold

Question
i just got this lawn mower. it is used, it looks like it is in good shape. the only problem i have is that it wants to die not to long after it is started. it is a briggs and stratton i/c gold 19 hp twin. do you have any suggeestions? i really appreciate it. matthew.

p.s.  the guy i bought it off from said that the carb has been cleaned, new fuel lines were installed.

Answer
It's likely it's a fuel problem.  Does the engine have a fuel pump?  Many twins do; follow the fuel line from the tank toward the engine carb.  If you come to a device with another hose on it or if you get to the carb and then find another small hose going to the einge block then you have found the fuel pump.

Let me know what you find.
