Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sear Leaf Blower, thump thump, compression issue

Question
I have a 185mph Sear Leaf blower that won't run. It has run fine until this season. The only way I could get it to run is to spray starting fluid in the carb, now that doesn't even work.  I took the fuel filter off to see if this was the problem, nope.  I took the carb apart and dowsed it with carb cleaner, re-assembled it and it still won't start.  Replaced the spark plug. The only thing I didn't do was to actually try and clean out the very small holes in the carb with a wire of some type.  Any other suggestions? It's 3 yrs old so I don't think it would be a compression issue (that's why i'm asking). Do you know what the compression should read?  Thanks for any help.

Answer
If you turn the engine over slowly, you should feel and hear a good 'thump, thump'.  If you can only get it to run with starting fluid (which, I don't recommend...use gasoline or WD40, something with lubricating qualities, if you must for diagnosis only), the problem is with the carb.  It is mandatory to use a piece of wire to thoroughly clean out a carb because the small holes plug first.  Hope this helps.
