Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Snowblower Runs Then Dies, craftsman snowblower, fuel flow

Question
I have a one year old Craftsman 5.5 HP Snowblower that runs for a short period of time (3-5 minutes) then cuts off.

I usually wait about 30 seconds then restart the thing.  It will run fine for another 3 minutes or so and then cut off again.

Any ideas?  I'm looking out at 8 inches of the white stuff right now!

Thanks,

Walter

Answer
Hi Walter,

I suspect a lack of fuel flow to the engine.  The carb most likely has dirt, debris, gummed fuel or maybe water inside.  You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.  A carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
