Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S snowblower engine, blown head gasket, engine model type

Question
I have a B&S 5 horse (snowblower) that doesn't have the power it use to. when it's cold I have to use the electric start and let it warm up for about 15 minutes or else it stalls and when it does stall the pull starter won't start it sometimes? I asked around and was told maybe I have a blown head gasket how do I find out for sure? and if I do what would cause it? Thanks Don

Answer
A leak down tester tool is the best method for checking head gaskets.  This tool is fairly expensive and you need an air compressor to use it.

What is the engine model, type and code number?
When was the last engine tune-up?
Does the engine sound like it's runnning fast enough?  A tachometer will tell you the engine RPM.
Let me know.
