Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): two stroke oil for chainsaw, stroke oil, quality oil

Question
I have been leant a chain saw, but haven't been able to buy two stroke mix for it.  I am told I need to mix it myself.  How do I work out the appropriate ratio?

Answer
Use the ratio recommended on the label for the oil.  Otherwise, if you are using a high quality oil, mix it at 40:1  That means if you have a 1 gallon (3.78L) gas can, you would need to add 3.5oz (100mL) of oil to a full can of gas.  1/40th of 3.78L is 94.5mL.  Hope this helps.
