Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Can I......., snapper riding lawn mower, riding lawn mower

Ok im using it in a small car built like a go kart but strnger frame. I hope to race with my friends so I am hoping for a faster engine.

I have a B&S 11 horse engine from a Snapper riding lawn mower and I would like to know how I can modify it to go faster and also get the top performence.
Answer -
There's not much you can do to an 11 HP as compared to a 5 HP.

You can adjust the governor setting for a few more RMP and maybe a slight power increase.

To make the engine more car like, as far as a gas pedal goes, you can split the engine it half and remove the governor components.  This is very risky though and I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're willing to destroy the engine.

We do this on race cart engines but it is very easy to over-rev and destroy the engines.  We have trashed a lot of engine blocks over the years!!
