Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn engine repair, briggs stratton, safety switches

Thank you for taking the time to help.
I have a briggs & stratton vanguard engine 18hp.It wont start it is a key start.I took the plugs out and put the sprak plug wire on the plug and grounded it and theres no spark? Any advise thank you

Remove all of the leads at the engine that connect shut-offs to the ignition (terminal block with 2-4 connectors).  If it still has no spark, the problem is the ignition module and it will need to be replaced.  If you now have spark, the problem is either in the key or one of the safety switches (seat, blades).  Hope this helps.
