I'm having problem with my JD/G100's electric pto. When I pull the switch up to engage, it completely shuts the engine down (25 hp Kohler). I have been able to work the switch up very slowly to a point that it will engage the mower without shutting off the engine. I  have cleaned the mower deck from top to bottom and greased pulleys.

I was also noticing that the engine did not seem to have a lot of power so I replaced both spark plugs and that seem to fix it.

Please give me your thoughts.

Hi Tim,

When it stalls, does it seem like a large load on the engine or an electrical cut off?
I would disconnect the deck from the PTO and make sure that each blade spindle and pulley are free.  Also, check the PTO operation whithout the deck attached.  If the deck and PTO are fine and you can rule them out, then the problem is in the engine.
