Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small engines, briggs stratton, charging system

Hi Mark,
I had something come tru my lawnmower block and I was looking for a replacement engine when someone told me I could buy what is called a short block and it come with the piston and connecting rod so all I have to do to put my other part on it. Do you know about this ?
My engine is a 12.5 IC B&S elect start on a murry riding mower.

Yes, short block are available.  All you need to do is locate a Briggs & Stratton dealer to get one.  They will need the MODEL, TYPE and CODE from the engine (stamped on metal blower housing.  Then your carb, head, muffler, ignition, charging system, etc. goes on the new short block.  Hope this helps.
