Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weed eater repair, mcculloch mac 2816, weedeater

How come i can not get the pull chord on my mcculloch mac 2816 gas powered weedeater to release?  The model # is B400128-51 serial # 12-550197.  It hasnt been used in probably 2-3 yrs.  Any help would be much appreciated. thanks             year?

Hi Angie,

If the recoil rope will not go back into the reel and is stuck, then you will need to remove the recoil housing from the engine.  There should be 4 or more bolts to remove.  When it is removed you should be able to see the reel and rope to find out if the rope is just jammed and can be unstuck or if there is a broken part.
