Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Link chain slipped off sprockets, briggs straton, old briggs

Question
My self-propelled lawn mower (about 15 years old) Briggs & Straton motor - bought at Home Depot - has never broken in all this time and it runs now - it's just that it slipped the link chain that drives the mower.  I can get one end back on the sprockets but not the other end. How does one do that?  I'm not very strong and have no idea what to do now. Cannot get mower into car to take to repair shop. Suggestions?

Thanks, Maxi

Answer
Hi Maxi,

Remove any covers, if needed, so you can see the drive set up better.
There should be a way to loosen and adjust one end of the mount that supports one of the sprockets.  If you can loosen the bolts and move it closer to the other sprocket, you can get the chain on easily.  Also, you will then be able to tighten the chain so that it will not come off again.

Let me know how you make out.
