Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carburetor, needle file, carbs

Question
Hi. Thanks for responding. I have finally removed the screw fom the carburetor, but I think I damaged some of the threads. Do you know if it is possible to rethread the shaft so the new piece will fit? If not do you know where I can find a used carburetor? I would rather not go the expensive route for a new one($111.75).

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Davina Benge

Answer
Hi Davina,

It is hard to repair damaged threads if they are stripped.  If they are just cross threaded, you may be able to straighten them out with a 3 corner needle file.  If it is a needle screw, you could get a new one by buying a rebuild kit.  Used carbs are sometimes available at local repair shops.  I don't know where else you would find one.

Good luck,
Michael
