Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): electric P T O, cub cadet, cranks

mickael, I have a cub cadet and the electric PTO switch will enage the cutting blades,but it will not cut the blades off. I use a 200 amp charger and touch the battery and the switch will cut off the blades,what do you think is wrong? battery? or new PTO clucth? thanks,larry

Hi Larry,

It may be the switch.  Test and trace all the PTO wiring to make sure there is power applied when needed and off when not.  Connect the charger to the battery to supplement it. If you get the same PTO result, then the battery is good.  Also, if the battery cranks the engine quickly, that would be another indicator of a good battery.  The clutch would be the last thing to check.
