Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Not getting a spark when turning on Riding Mower, john deere dealer, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a 1990 John Deere 240 Riding Mower with a 12h.p. Kawasaki engine (FC420V). It only has about 100 hours on it. It sat in a utility building for about 11 or 12 years. I picked it up last year, took it to a John Deere Dealer and had it serviced. New battery, oil filter, fuel filter, carb. cleaned up, air in tires is all it needed. Up until  now it has ran fantastic, then last week it just would not fire up. When trying to start it I am not getting a spark. I took the Coil off and took it to have it tested, they said it was ok. I then cleaned the outside of the Flywheel off where the Magnets are located on the Coil. Still not getting a spark.
Any suggestions as to why it will not fire up?
Thanks alot for your help.

Answer
Hi Ray,

If you are not getting spark but the coil is good, then there must be a break in the electrical path to it.  Maybe a bad safety switch or ignition switch.  You will need to trace the path with a test light or meter.

Let me know how you make out.
