I have an 8 year old Craftsman 2 cycle edger with a Walbro carb. and I would like to know a simple way to adjust the carb. Also I need to know the gap setting on the cj8 spark plug. Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.
Answer -
.025 on the plug.

As for the needles, 1 and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 turns out from the GENTLY seated position.  DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN because you can damage the carburetor.  A small, pocket size, flat screwdriver or just your fingers works well to GENTLY seat the needles.

Have you checked the compression or exhaust port/muffler?
Let me know what happens.

Eric, thanks for the information. I am waiting on a part so I can't give you any results. You ask if I'd checked the compression or exhaust port/muffler. How would I check this and what would I be looking for.

Answer
You need a compression tester to check compression.  It should be about 90 PSI.

As for the muffler/exhaust port, remove the muffler, check the port for carbon build-up and then, if possible take the muffler apart and clean the carbon build-up from the muffler holes.  Carbon build up really can affect the performance on older engines.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
