Snowmobile Repair: no spark, mfgsupply, delivery problem

Question
Hi arcticatman, I have an 81 everest 500e that sat for years. The sled ran after you helped me with a fuel delivery problem, but only ran for about an hour. Now, I dont have any spark. How do I test the coils and the voltage regulator? What should I test to troubleshoot this problem?

Answer
Hello Gerry

Glad you were able to get it fired up for an hour. I would start with new plugs. If you've already done so, then I would suspect the coil. New coils for the sled are very cheap, so considering the sleds age, you may want to replace it. You can get a new one from Denniskirk.com or there's one here for about 22 dollars; http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/01-080.html  .  Testing the coil at home generally proves inaccurate. If you think it would be better to test it first instead of just replacing parts, you may want to take the coils to your dealer. They will generally test for free or cheaply. Another thing you may want to change is the plug wires and caps. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
