Snowmobile Repair: AFS Suspension, front suspension, sled

Question
I just bought a 91 Jag AFS Long Track that seems to be leaning to the left when sat still on level ground. I have only had AWS sleds prior to this one so I am not familiar with this at all. Is the AFS type suspension adjustable and if so how is it done? If it is not adjustable is just a matter of one spring weaker than the other and needs replacing to level the stance of the machine?

Answer
Hello Simon,

If it's the front suspension, I would recomend taking a look at it, to make sure that none of the parts are bent. If they check fine, I do not believe the older AFS is adjustable. If you see threads on the shock, and a the reatiner is threaded, then you could turn it up to add tension. But again, I am pretty sure the shocks are not adjustable. What I would suspect, is a blown shock. You can get new ones through www.denniskirk.com for about 80 dollars. I would not use hydraulic shocks, gas is ideal. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
