Snowmobile Repair: Ski-doo starting troubles, battery booster, ski doo

Question
Why do most older Ski-doo's start better with pull-cord than electric start, I have one that starts first pull but will not even attempt with electric start ? I am getting a good spark in both modes.

             Thanks

Answer
Hello Jeff,

It's usually because the starter doesn't spin it at the RPM it used to. That's either because the starter is old, or the battery needs replacement. Here is a trick you can do. Take a battery booster, and hook it up. Then try and start it. If it starts, then you will know it needs a battery. The battery has alot of load on it during starting, and old ones usually can't handle it. Hope this answers your question. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
