Steering Column Repair: 97 Ford F-250 steering colomn, power stroke diesel, ford steering column

Question
I see where you said a steering column from a F-150 will fit a F-250,but I have been told that the input shaft diameter is different. My 97 F-250 with xlt package steering column is bad and I can't find a replacement for it.Mine has tilt,OD button, cruise, air bag, intermittent wipers, and my truck is a F-250 HD with the 7.3 power stroke diesel.Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Hello Tommy:

I'm not sure why you are wanting to replace the entire steering column.  Very often these can be rebuilt far easier and cheaper than replacing it  And if youcannot locate on, I suggest this:

My company has recently uploaded web pages and a description of how to rebuild the upper portion of a Ford steering column (for a small fee).  They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions with pictures. Although the example is for a 2000 Mustang, the column is identical to yours (tilt and non tilt use the same housing)

I hope these instructions help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply follow the links to the Ford Parts pages and select any of the parts you need.  We do provide a complete kit (BRG230) on this page.

Good luck
