Answer
Hi Jerold:

Sorry about your wipers.
Windshield wipers are extremely difficult to diagnose as the switch and motor display the same symptoms.  Without a new switch to plug in and try, it's very likely the switch is not your problem.
Most of the time the shut-off mechanism in the motor is not responding to the signal from the switch.  You mention you have a variable speed switch.  If the wipers are responding to the different speeds, intermittent, low and high, then I would condemn the motor not the switch.  The motor is the unit exposed to the elements and most likely to fail due to dirt, contamination, overheating or simply old age.  The switch only sends the signals through 3 wires and as I said, if you have other functions working fine, then the problem is not the switch.
Lastly, if you want instructions, we have recently uploaded some videos on our company website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet full size truck, the column is very similar to yours.
