Steering Column Repair: three on the tree, speed column shift, chevy c10

Question
I have a 1976 chevy c10 pickup with a three speed column shift and the linkage on the column broke. Are there replacement parts available or would I have to replace the whole steering column and where can I find them.

Answer
Hi Bruce:

Sorry about your truck.  This was a common problem back then.  You have a couple of choices.
You can replace it with a used column if you can find one or you can rebuild it with new parts if you know the part numbers and can get the part.
For used parts...Try this site.  You may be able to find what you need.

It's the website all the salvage yards use when they say "Hang on--let me see if my other yard has it".  Actually it's an online database of all the salvage yards in America.  You can search by part, location or price

For new parts, once you have the original part numbers, try this site.

It's the graveyard for all NOS (New Old Stock) from dealers who couldn't sell their parts or had obsolete numbers they couldn't return. You  may have to set up an account first.

Good Luck
