Steering Column Repair: Steering column/Ignition, dtcs, key switch

Question
Hey there once again. I had the parts come in for the truck and I have replaced the Ignition Housing and the Key Switch Cylinder. The truck cranks but won't stay running.....what do I do?????

Answer
Hi Tracy:
Sounds like you're quite the technician.  Good job.  The only thing left for you to do is to reprogram the truck to learn the new chipset.  Here is that procedure.  It can take a half an hour sometimes, and sometimes it works after the first cycle.

1.   Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.   Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
3.   Observe the SECURITY telltale, it should be flashing.  After approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn ON for 5 seconds and then OFF.
4.   Once to turns OFF, Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF, and wait 5 seconds .
Then:  Repeat steps 1 through 4, 2 more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes
5.   After the 3rd time you turn off the ignition, start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
6.   With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

That should finish your job.
